Ruth has been a part of theMILL community for 5 years, and within those years she has led in many capacities -- serving on leadership, leading Swing Dance nights after theMILL, and hosting throngs of people at her house for the Wednesday Night Dinner smallgroup. She has also travelled overseas with theMILL and led trips to Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Peru. But this year she takes her biggest missions leap yet: a year-long commitment with the World Race. Here are more of the details in her own words:
How long will you be gone? July 2011 to May 2012
Where are you headed? 11 countries in 11 months, travelling to 4 different continents. Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Ukraine, Romania, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
What will this entail? It will basically be like 11 short-term trips combined. Each place will be different but we will serve alongside locals and missionaries already established in-country.
Why did you choose this adventure? This is my pilgrimmage. I have grown to be uncomfortable with my comfort. Just a few questions I hope to uncover over the next year: Am I called to long-term missions? Why has called me to be so uncomfortable with the mundane...what else is out there? Ultimately I want to know God in a new and radical way!
A few weeks ago, Aaron & her MILL family prayed her out; check it:
